Bernalillo Busted Booking Photos
After an arrest in Albuquerque, the paperwork heads to the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center. City police, the sheriff's office, or another agency may have made the arrest. The MDC intake system logs the episode either way. When the public detail view shows a photo, it usually sits beside the booking number, charges, warrant details, bail information, and the arresting agency. One person can have more than one case row on file. Names repeat across the county, so search by booking number, person ID, date, and agency rather than by name alone.
Photos come through the MDC custody detail when one is available, and not every adult booking gets pictured. Juvenile files, sealed records, expunged material, and other exempt items stay off the public list. Someone released or transferred drops from the current roster. The booking episode and any later court case still live on as separate records.
Note: The MDC portal labels its material as reference information, so confirm any live official result when timing or identity matters.
Bernalillo Booking Record Fields
The MDC detail view shows what a Bernalillo booking record can hold. Some fields stay blank. What gets released depends on custody status and legal limits. Reading the fields carefully helps you tell a booking episode apart from an arrest report. It also helps you tell both apart from what a court eventually decides. The breakdown below walks through those distinctions field by field.
| Field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Person ID and booking number | Separate MDC identifiers that help distinguish people and booking episodes. |
| Booking and admission data | Booking date, admission date and time, housing, and active-hold information when available. |
| Arrest rows | Arresting agency, arrest date, location, case number, and related entries in the episode. |
| Charges and warrants | Charge type, count, statute or description, plus warrant data recorded at booking. These are not court findings. |
| Bail and release rows | Bond type or amount, paid date, release type, release date, and sometimes judge information. |
| Booking photo | An image may display on the official custody detail, subject to availability and legal limits. |
Custody status labels tell you where a person stands in the detention system. Look for "release on recognizance," a hold, a bond entry, or transfer language. The same detail page can list more than one agency or case. So match at least two reliable fields before assuming you found the right person. The booking number and date of birth work well together.
- Booking
- The intake event that creates or updates a detention record.
- Bond
- A court-set release condition or amount, not a disposition.
- Disposition
- The court’s eventual outcome, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or conviction.
Bernalillo Booking Record Requests
For a current public entry, MDC is the fastest view. Once the visible window closes, or when you need a specific booking sheet or a releasable image, use the county's Public Information Requests process. Send the request to whichever custodian holds the record, MDC or BCSO. Ask for an existing record tied to a booking number. Avoid an open-ended sweep of material.
- Collect the full name and the best available booking number, person ID, booking date, and arresting agency.
- Describe the requested booking sheet, image, release field, or arrest-log entry with a reasonable date range.
- Provide the requester’s name, address, telephone number, and a request for electronic delivery where a releasable record exists.
- Ask the custodian to identify the legal basis for any redaction, withholding, or fee quotation.
New Mexico's IPRA guidance sets firm timing rules. Inspection should happen immediately or as soon as practicable, and never later than 15 calendar days. If inspection cannot happen within three business days, the agency must send a written timing response. Electronic records carry no state-level fee under that guidance. Physical copy charges vary by medium, and no published MDC booking-photo fee exists, so ask the custodian about any applicable charge.
Note: A focused request built around a booking number is far more likely to locate a defined MDC episode than a request for every photo or past booking.
New Mexico Busted Record Law
Two state laws shape access here. The Inspection of Public Records Act, NMSA 1978 §§14-2-1 through 14-2-12, opens many government records to the public, exemptions included. The Arrest Record Information Act covers public fugitive lists, chronological blotters, public court material, and certain adult arrest information. Neither law throws every file, photo, or investigative record open to the public.
New Mexico treats photographs and booking sheets as parts of an arrest record. That does not force every image onto an open roster, though. Juvenile matters, victim information, medical material, confidential investigation details, and sealed or expunged files can all be restricted. No New Mexico statute specifically addresses commercial mugshot removal fees. That gap does not weaken IPRA, confidentiality law, or court-ordered expungement.
For qualifying matters, the New Mexico Courts expungement materials lay out separate forms for identity theft, release without conviction, and conviction. A court order is the strongest basis for asking the official source to update or remove qualifying public access. It will not scrub cached pages, social reposts, or independent news coverage on its own. Get the court outcome or order first. Then request any needed correction from the originating agency. After that, submit a documented free correction request to each republisher, and ignore anyone demanding money up front or promising guaranteed results, since that is not a county process.
The New Mexico Department of Justice IPRA page offers a plain-language overview of the state access framework, useful before drafting a focused request.
State guidance covers how to ask. MDC and BCSO decide what county-held material can be released in any particular record.
Find Bernalillo Busted Mugshots
Start with custody status, since no single page holds every event. MDC splits its official interfaces by time window. For a newly entered booking, the Arrest List fits best. The Custody List shows who is in adult custody right now. The Release List helps once someone has just departed. Court cases, state prison records, federal records, and immigration detention records all live in separate systems entirely.
- Open the MDC Arrest List for a booking within the observed recent seven-day window and record the displayed identifiers.
- Use the MDC Custody List for a person who may still be held. Search with the live fields, including partial names, date, or person ID where offered.
- Open the matching detail record and compare the booking number, date, person ID, agency, or case number before relying on any available image.
- Check the MDC Release List when current custody no longer fits, then use a focused records request for an older county record.
- Use New Mexico Case Lookup for court activity and the appropriate state or federal locator only when that later custody status applies.
Is the person in state prison or under NMCD supervision? Use the New Mexico Corrections Department search. Federal custody points to the BOP locator, while ICE custody or a recent ICE release points to the ICE locator. Each tool answers one custody question. To track how a case is moving, New Mexico Case Lookup is the next public stop for progress and disposition.
Official Bernalillo Mugshot Channels
Start with official sources. They sit closest to the custody record itself, so a result comes with the date and the agency behind it. Bernalillo's MDC actually offers three separate views, and a booking photo, when one exists, appears on the public custody detail page. News stories and third-party sites can be useful background. They just can't replace a live official record when you need something current.
| Channel | Custody state | Photo expectation | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| MDC Arrest List | Recent adult bookings, observed around seven days | Field-oriented list; use related detail when available | Official MDC booking interface |
| MDC Custody List | Current adult MDC custody | Detail can display a booking photo | Official MDC search and detail |
| MDC Release List | Recent releases, observed around two weeks | Not a photo gallery | Official MDC release interface |
| NMCD Offender Search | State prison or supervision | Check the live profile; no universal-photo promise | Official NMCD search |
| BCSO/MDC records request | Older or omitted county-held material | Subject to release law and exemptions | County public-information route |
Local outlets like KOAT, KOB, KRQE, and the Albuquerque Journal cover selected incidents, not the whole picture. RecentlyBooked and Mugshots.com keep county-oriented pages. Arrests.org offers a statewide New Mexico search instead of a dedicated Bernalillo landing page. BustedNewspaper and Mugshots.zone have no working county section at all. Anything unofficial can be stale or thin, so weigh it against MDC before trusting it.
Want the official interface? The MDC Custody List opens with its terms, then drops you straight into the live search.
The live MDC search is the county's official starting point. Keep in mind that its displayed fields can shift as the portal gets updated.
Busted Bernalillo Custody Roster
Treat the Custody List as a current-status tool, not a permanent archive. Browse the full list or filter by the fields on screen. First name, last name, arrest date, and person or inmate ID are typical. Partial names sometimes work too. When a match appears, open the booking number or person ID to reach the detail record rather than assuming the first name shown is the right one.
| Live MDC field | Best use |
|---|---|
| First or last name | Locate a likely current custody record, including partial-name searches. |
| Arrest date | Narrow a result when the approximate arrest date is known. |
| Person ID | Match MDC’s internal person identifier to a known record. |
| Booking number | Open and distinguish the specific intake episode. |
A detail page can hold housing, holds, agency, arrest location, case data, charges, warrants, and bail or release rows. A photo may appear there. If it doesn't, the cause could be a restriction, a data lag, a glitch, or a record that simply isn't available. The portal calls its information for reference and bars commercial use, so don't scrape it or copy entries into a gallery.
The BernalilloCo Sheriff app is a separate BCSO channel for alerts and anonymous tips, listed on Google Play and the Apple App Store. It isn't an MDC booking-photo roster. For release alerts, New Mexico VINE takes registrations through VINElink. MDC release guidance points callers to 505-839-8700, option 4 or "notification."
Note: A blank or expired list entry can mean release, transfer, correction, restriction, or a rolled-forward display window, not a conclusion about the booking.
Bernalillo Recent Busted Bookings
The MDC Arrest List is the county's recent-bookings feed. It covers roughly seven days, organized by booking date. Expect a name, arresting agency, person ID, birth year, booking number, and booking time. Pick the current date for the closest same-day view. It isn't a minute-by-minute log, and it isn't a complete tally of every arrest in the county.
An arrest and a public booking entry aren't the same moment. Transport, identity confirmation, medical screening, paperwork, warrant confirmation, and data entry all sit between them. Once someone stays held, the Custody List offers richer detail. The Release List keeps its own window of about two weeks with a slimmer view. The practical flow runs Arrest List, then Custody List and its detail, then Release List, though transfers, rebookings, holds, and corrections can scramble that order.
The MDC Arrest List is the official recent-booking interface.
The list only reaches back so far. Older events call for the current roster, the release list, a court search, or a focused county request.
No official permanent countywide photo archive or downloadable daily booking archive exists. APD news is a hand-picked press-release stream, not a comprehensive feed. One last habit worth building: keep booking date, arrest date, admission date, and release date straight when comparing records.
NMCD After Bernalillo Booking
The New Mexico Corrections Department runs its own Offender Search. It covers people held in NMCD facilities or on NMCD probation and parole. City and county jails sit outside its jurisdiction. You can search by first name, last name, or an NMCD number, then check the profile's facility or supervision details. Prison data updates nightly. Probation and parole information runs in real time.
NMCD becomes the right channel once a Bernalillo booking turns into a state prison sentence or state supervision. It won't help with someone awaiting a county hearing at MDC. A live profile may or may not show a photo, and an offender image there isn't necessarily the shot MDC took at booking. Use the NMCD search page to keep the state system separate from county detention.
Let NMCD answer the state-custody slice of the record. For the court outcome, go back to case information.
Bernalillo Booking Custody Map
Someone can vanish from one public view while the booking event stays on the underlying record. The source has to match the question. Matching them well keeps recent bookings, current custody, releases, court matters, and later state or federal custody from blurring together.
| Status question | Official starting point | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Booked recently | MDC Arrest List | Current custody or a court disposition. |
| Held at MDC now | MDC Custody List/detail | Guilt or a final case outcome. |
| Released recently | MDC Release List | Whether release was to the community, another agency, or a later custody system. |
| Case outcome | New Mexico Case Lookup and the court clerk | A complete certified document file. |
| State, federal, or ICE custody | NMCD, BOP, or ICE locator | That MDC holds a current public booking photo. |
A BOP locator result means federal prison custody. The U.S. Marshals Service generally doesn't release photos of federal prisoners. The ICE Online Detainee Locator handles current ICE custody or a recent ICE release, not a public photo search. These are fallbacks for a different system, not extensions of MDC.
Bernalillo Court Disposition Records
An arrest at the Metropolitan Detention Center is just the start of a longer path. A Bernalillo County case might lead to a first appearance, a bond or preventive-detention hearing, a preliminary examination, or proceedings in Metropolitan Court or the Second Judicial District Court. Searching by booking number or case number beats a name search. Names repeat often, after all, and a vague match can pull up the wrong person entirely.
Once a case is filed, the courts have their own trail. New Mexico Case Lookup posts public case summaries, hearing dates, party names, register-of-actions entries, charges, and dispositions. It has limits, though. Full documents are missing. Personal identifying details are stripped out. Juvenile criminal cases never appear. When you need an actual document or a certified copy, ask at the clerk's records room. A court docket and an MDC photo record are two different things.
That makes the Case Lookup screen a handy bridge. It connects an MDC case number to whatever happened later in open court.
Booking charges, bail labels, and news captions only tell part of the story. The final court record is where you look for the rest.
Bernalillo Busted Mugshots by City
Adult bookings for the whole county happen at MDC. Who makes the arrest depends on where you are. Albuquerque bookings usually trace back to APD, with local news channels covering the bigger cases. Los Ranchos and Tijeras fall to BCSO, according to the villages' own pages. Before pinning a booking to a city, read the arresting-agency and location fields on the MDC detail page. That one step keeps you from crediting every county arrest to the wrong town.
- Albuquerque Busted Mugshots explains how APD reporting and news differ from the MDC event record.
- Los Ranchos de Albuquerque Busted Mugshots routes sheriff-covered custody events to BCSO and MDC.
- Tijeras Busted Mugshots covers the East Mountain sheriff and detention path.
